PROVIDING COVID-19 TESTING IN MORONGO BASIN

The Morongo Basin Healthcare District is providing free COVID-19 testing and flu vaccines at area community centers throughout the Basin.

While testing is free and open to those who lack health insurance, those with medical insurance are asked to bring their insurance information so that their insurance can be billed.

Drive-through testing is being offered at the following locations from 9 to 11 a.m.

§  MORONGO BASIN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, Yucca Valley (58375 29 Palms Hwy), Tuesdays: November 17 and 24; December 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and Saturday December 12.

§  MORONGO BASIN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, 29 Palms (6380 Split Rock Ave), Thursdays: November 19, December 3, 10, 17 and Monday December 21.

§  MORONGO VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER (Covington Park), Monday November 16 and Wednesday December 2.

§  CENTER FOR HEALTHY GENERATIONS, Yucca Valley (57121 Sunnyslope Drive), Wednesday November 18 and Monday December 7.

§  PAPPY AND HARRIET’S, Pioneer Town, Wednesday December 16.

§  SPORTSMAN LODGE, Joshua Tree (6225 Sunburst Street), Monday November 23 and Wednesday December 9.

§  WONDER VALLEY COMMUNITY CENTER, 29 Palms, Monday November 30 and December 14.

“We want to get as many San Bernardino County residents tested for COVID as possible,” said Jackie Combs, CEO of Morongo Basin Healthcare District. “It is our goal to get San Bernardino County downgraded to the less restrictive “red tier.” Currently, San Bernardino is designated in the more restrictive “purple tier” by the state of California, meaning more businesses are closed.

The Morongo Basin Healthcare District focuses on making healthcare more accessible to residents, and operates community health centers which provide primary and specialty medicine, behavioral healthcare, as well as dental services, in both Twentynine Palms and Yucca Valley. The District also operates the LIFT Transportation Services program, providing free, non-urgent transportation to medical appointments within the Morongo Basin, including patients who are wheelchair bound.
